A mountain range with a continuous ridge stretching for over 60km with parallel valleys on both sides. They are also called The Transylvanian Alps.
Starting from Brasov we need a bit longer transfer, as for a day hike we usually recommend to access the mountain via the Transfagarasan Highway, an amazing winding mountain highway that is taking us up to Balea Lake at 2035m high. Starting from Balea glacial lake, there are a few good options for day hikes around the lake with stunning views, or even a bit along the main ridge with optional detour to a peak over 2500m. On a clear day we can see in the distance the Moldoveanu Peak, the roof of Romania at 2544m.
